Our lecture for today is "HOW TO BE A MUSLIM ?"

Dear brothers and sisters.

Islam has always been viewed by many westerners as incompatible with the modern world, especially in relation to human rights and women's rights in particular. Many westerners emphasise that Islamic law restricts freedom of thought and creativity and supports harsh punishments and degrading treatment. Does that represent the truth about Islam?

It is time for us to show the truth about Islam in general and the Islamic law in particular and let people decide for themselves. These serial lecture in garden_of_jannah will brings you to know Islam better and explore the world of Islam in order to clear the air and correct the misconception about Islam

Are you ready to accept Islam and don't know what to do? It is best not to hesitate if you are certain that you believe. It is very easy to become a Muslim. "How easy?" you ask? Well, it is as easy as 1-2-3!

One must take the following simple steps in order to become a Muslim.

1) State with sincerity and belief, the Shahada (the declaration of faith).

Ashadu an La illaha ill Allah, ashadu ana Muhammadan Rasul-lu-lah means I bear witness that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah alone, associating no partner with Him, and I bear witness that Muhammed (ibn Abdullah) is His slave-servant and His messenger.

2) Purify yourself by taking a complete bath.
"Why a bath?" This is a way to purify yourself for your Creator, signifying yourself as a new Muslim, washing away your previous sins and beginning a new life, free from shirk (associating partners with God).

3) That's it. Congratulations and finally, ALLAHU AKBAR
That was a Muslim saying a Takbir! This is what Muslims do instead of clapping for someone; we praise our Creator by saying "Allahu Akbar" which means, "Allah is the Greatest!"

We highly recommend you learn in detail about Tauhid (the Oneness of God) in our series of lectures. Once becoming a muslim, there are responsibilities for us to fulfill. Once the state of shada been declared, the oath to be the humble servant of Allah already on our shoulders. By fulfilling these responsibilities as the evidence of our existing in the path of truth.

Some advice from Your Creator and His Prophet (pbuh):

On the authority of Ibn Omar, the son of Omar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with both, who said: I heard the messenger of Allah say:"Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammed is the messenger of Allah, performing the prayers, paying the zakat (poor due tax), making the pilgrimage to the House, and fasting in Ramadan." Sahih Bukhari and Muslim

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Allah says: 'I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Mewalking, I go to him running.' " Sahih Bukhari

On the authority of Abdullah bin Abbas, who said : One day I was behind the prophet and he said to me:"Young man, I shall teach you some words [of advice] :Be mindful of Allah, and Allah will protect you. Bemindful of Allah, and you will find Him in front of you. If you ask, ask of Allah; if you seek help, seek help of Allah. Know that if the Nation were to gather together to benefit you with anything, it would benefit you only with something that Allah had already prescribed for you, and that if they gather together to harm you with anything, they would harm you only with something Allah had already prescribed for you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried." "..

Be mindful of Allah, you will find Him before you. Get to know Allah in prosperity and He will know you in adversity. Know that what has passed you by was not going to befall you; and that what has befallen you was not going to pass you by. And know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship." Tirmizi, hasan

On the authority of Al-Hasan bin Ali, the grandson of the messenger of Allah, who said : I memorized from the messenger of Allah his saying :"Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt." Tirmizi

On the authority of Abu Dhar Jundub bin Junadah, and Muadh bin Jabal that the messenger of Allah said:"Fear Allah wherever you are, and follow up a bad deed with a good one and it will wipe it out, and behave well towards people." Tirmizi

About Allah's Forgiveness
On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: Allah the Almighty said: O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it. Tirmizi also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal

In our next lecture, we will try to explore the existence of Allah as the Mighty Creator.
